AGM 2025

Chronic Pain Ireland’s 2025 Annual General Meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Monday 7th July via Zoom.  This is an opportunity for our members to engage with our Board and each other while reviewing 2024 accomplishments as outlined in our CPI Annual Report 2024, along with challenges and our plans for the future.  We are delighted to welcome our special guest speaker Dr Michelle Roche who will speak about the methodological approaches to the inclusion and study of sex and gender in pain research and the recommendations from the international PAINDIFF Network.

About Dr Roche

Dr Roche is an Associate Professor in Physiology and Co-Director of the Centre for Pain Research at the University of Galway, Ireland. Dr Roche is also the current President of the Irish Pain Society. Her research interests focuses on enhancing understanding of the neurobiology and pathophysiology underlying pain, mood disorders, autism and their interactions with a particular interest sex differences and the role of the neuro-immune, endocannabinoid and opioid systems. She currently lead the PAINDIFF network, an international network examining best practice for the study of sex and gender in pain research. Her research has resulted in over 80 research manuscripts, reviews and book chapters and has been presented at over 200 conferences. Her research is supported by EU, national and industry funding and she is an Editorial Board member of several international scientific journals.
