Chronic Pain Ireland featured in Mediaplanet’s Chronic Conditions campaign
Chronic Pain Ireland is pleased to be featured in the latest Chronic Conditions campaign published by Mediaplanet Ireland and Independent.ie.
The article, Sleep and Chronic Pain: A Complex Relationship, explores the strong evidence linking sleep disturbance and chronic pain. It highlights the bidirectional relationship between pain and sleep, showing how poor sleep can increase pain sensitivity while chronic pain can significantly disrupt sleep quality.
The feature also discusses the importance of evidence-based approaches to improving sleep, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), behavioural strategies and the role of psychological approaches within chronic pain management.
Commenting in the article, Christina Donnelly, Executive Director of Chronic Pain Ireland, notes that people engaging with Chronic Pain Ireland’s support services frequently identify sleep disruption, fatigue and pain-related anxiety as important issues that affect their daily lives.
We are grateful to @Mediaplanet Ireland for the opportunity to highlight the importance of sleep as a key component of chronic pain management and overall wellbeing.
