Chronic Pain Ireland at Patient Solutions Conference 2025

We were delighted to attend and also to exhibit an information stand care at the Patient Solutions Conference 2025, held on 4 November at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin. Organised by the Irish Medical Times in collaboration with MIMS Ireland, this inaugural event brought together healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, technologists, patient organisations, and innovators to explore how Ireland can create more effective and patient-centred healthcare solutions.

The Central Role of the Patient Voice – An Evidence-Based Reflection

One of the strongest impressions from the conference was the consistent inclusion and embedding of patient voices throughout the event. Having “a dedicated space designed to put patient voices at the heart of healthcare innovation,” provided an interactive environment where lived experience informed conversations around system change, digital health, and community-based care pathways.

The programme also included a session entitled “Unheard Voices – lived experiences driving patient-centred solutions,” highlighting how personal stories and real-world challenges can shape more effective and compassionate health innovations. In empowering the patient voice this helps to drive practical improvements in healthcare delivery.

Throughout the day, this commitment was clear. Healthcare professionals, innovators, academics, and policymakers working together and have frank and open conversations about where we are at, what’s next really reinforced the growing recognition that sustainable healthcare solutions must be patient-centred, co-designed, and grounded in lived experience.

As both exhibitors and attendees, Chronic Pain Ireland used the opportunity to:

  • Share information about our supports and services with healthcare professionals, patient advocates, and members of the public

  • Listen and learn from the wider patient-voice movement and emerging healthcare innovations

  • Understand community-based approaches and digital solutions being explored nationally

Why This Matters for Chronic Pain Ireland

The themes explored throughout the day, including patient empowerment, care in the community, digital accessibility, patient-professional partnerships, and system transformation mirror several of CPI’s own strategic priorities. Engaging directly with conference delegates strengthened our understanding of how Chronic Pain Ireland can align within broader patient-centred reform efforts.

The conference highlighted that:

  • Patients must have a meaningful seat at the table in shaping healthcare

  • Innovation succeeds only when patients’ lived experience informs design

  • Community-based supports are essential to reducing pressure on hospitals

  • Collaboration across clinical, policy, and patient sectors is key to real progress

These insights reinforce Chronic Pain Ireland’s ongoing commitment to advocating for a healthcare system where people living with chronic pain are listened to, understood, and supported.

The Patient Solutions Conference 2025 has established itself as an important platform for thoughtful dialogue, shared learning, and practical collaboration. Chronic Pain Ireland was proud to participate in its first Conference and looks forward to future events that champion the patient voice and drive meaningful change.
