Charity Trustees’ Week – Celebrating our Board of trustees
This Charity Trustees’ Week we want to say a great big THANK YOU to all of our fantastic trustees. As volunteers, they dedicate their time, expertise, knowledge and insight to make a significant contribution to Chronic Pain Ireland behind the scenes.
Across our 31 year history, we’ve had 68 trustees on our board. The organisation was originally founded by a Consultant in Pain Medicine and a small group of patients. As we grew from a support group to a charity, some of these founding members served for many years dedicating hundreds of hours in support and guidance.
We currently have 8 trustees on our Board and collectively, this year alone, they will gift us over 250 hours of their time and expertise. As a small team, the role of Chronic Pain Ireland’s trustees is key in helping us to achieve our mission and our vision of inclusive society where people living with chronic pain are believed, understood and supported. Our trustees work tirelessly throughout the year in the governance and leadership of Chronic Pain Ireland. Our mission is to create a greater understanding and awareness of those living with chronic pain in Ireland. We aim to support our members and nurture those living with the condition and their families through guidance and information provision and to advocate within the wider community.
As a small charity we couldn’t operate without our trustees and we value the range of experience that they bring by collectively ensuring that we maximise our impact and achieve our charitable purpose and strategic objectives as set out in our 2022-2025 strategic plan. We thank all of our trustees for championing Chronic Pain Ireland and welcome their diversity of experience helping to contribute new ideas and perspectives ensuring our work and services continue to be innovative, open and adaptable in these challenging times. Charity Trustees’ Week
Charity Trustees’ Week is an annual event which celebrates and showcases the great work that trustees do and highlights opportunities for people from all kinds of backgrounds with all kinds of experience to get involved and help make a difference. It is organised in partnership by the Charities Regulator, Boardmatch Ireland, Carmichael, Charities Institute Ireland, Dóchas, Pobal, The Wheel, and Volunteer Ireland. Running from November 13th to November 17th with 13 events for Trustees.
