On 22 July 2026, Chronic Pain Ireland attended the Neurological Alliance of Ireland’s event, “Neurology at the Forefront of Innovation in Knowledge-Based Healthcare and Research Across Europe.”
The event took place at an important time for European neurological health policy, with the European Parliament’s Public Health (SANT) Committee beginning preparations for an own-initiative report on a European Neurological Health Strategy. The event provided an opportunity to hear from people with lived experience, clinical leaders, researchers and representative organizations about the challenges facing people affected by neurological conditions and the need for a more coordinated approach across Europe.
Discussions focused on strengthening healthcare delivery, research and innovation, and explored how European countries can respond more effectively to the growing burden of neurological conditions. The event also highlighted the importance of ensuring that the voices and experiences of people living with long-term and neurological conditions are reflected in the development of future health policy.
For Chronic Pain Ireland, attending provided a valuable opportunity to build connections with organizations working across the neurological health sector and to consider how we can contribute to the wider conversation around improving healthcare, research and outcomes for people living with long-term conditions.
The event comes at a significant time for European health policy, including Ireland’s EU Presidency and growing momentum towards a more coordinated European response to neurological health.
